On Maple Drive, Scarborough, a one-way system with a wide-mouth junction was often the source of hazardous u-turns by cars from the local school. Using our RediKerb Surface Kerbing, North Yorkshire County Council created a safe refuge Island for crossing, which was then infilled separately.

Our RediKerb Surface Kerbing is a flexible product which can be formed in a curve with a minimum of a 4m to 6m radius depending on the profile. The Half Battered (HB) profile is ideal for urban areas, while the Splayed Face (SP) profile is ideal for high-speed areas.

The Kerbing can also be produced with or without reflective white markings, as well as in black or grey colours. Adaptable to an array of applications such as buildouts, Traffic Islands, pinch points, and more. The Kerbing can be installed on tarmac and concrete surfaces without excavation.

The before and after photos show how the refuge Island has drastically improved the road, allowing school children and pedestrians to travel and cross the road with increased safety whilst preventing drivers from making dangerous manoeuvres.
